What is the legal definition of cyberbullying?

According to the Canadian Bar Association, Cyberbullying is a form of harassment that is done using technology. Cyberbullies use social media platforms, texting and online messengers and others internet sources of communication to bully, with the intention to insult or embarrass someone. There is cyberbullying by word, and then there is cyberbullying in written which may be public, this is called Libel.  If a statement made by the cyberbully harms the reputation of the victim, they may file a law suit against the bully.

According to the Criminal Code of the Government of Canada; the following cases may be charged against the person who bullies: harassment, sending threat messages, defaming the reputation of a person, identity fraud, stealing confidential data and more. (Governement of Canada, 2015)
